Sarah Knott is a writer and historian. Her most recent book is the prize-winning Mother: An Unconventional History, which has been translated into many languages. The New York Times described Mother as "a joy to read".

Sarah is Sally M. Reahard Professor of History at Indiana University, where she teaches on the histories of revolution, feminism, birth and care, and a Research Fellow of the well-known Kinsey Institute for Sex, Gender and Reproduction. She divides her time between the United States and the United Kingdom and is a contributor to The Guardian, Times Literary Supplement, Literary Hub, and Los Angeles Review of Books, among many publications.
