THE BRITANNIAS one of ‘Best History Books of the Year’

Alice Albinia’s The Britannias has been named one of the 25 best history books of the year inThe Times, by Dominic Sandbrook.

“This is a strange and beautiful book, journeying through the past and present of Britain’s islands, from Anglesey, Iona and Man to Scilly, Shetland and Lindisfarne. Lyrically written, on just the right side of self-indulgence, it’s full of Celtic saints and Viking raiders. There’s also a tangible sense of place: the sea breeze, the grey skies, the air of wildness and mystery. An unconventional history that lingers in the imagination.”
